My name is Murari Gupta Dasa ( Mark Pettit), and I am currently battling stage 4 small cell Lung and Esophagus cancer. I started having issues back in last September where I was having issues breathing. Originally for several months i was misdiagnosed with pneumonia and asthma issue's, which lead me to coughing up blood the day after Christmas. This lead me to go to urgent care, where through an xray determined my left lung was collapsed, still treating me for pneumonia. After the 3rd cycle of antibiotics did not work , which they recommended a pulmonary doctor. After a scan and tests they ended up doing a bronchoscopy, going into my lung with a camera and needle, they then found the tumors.

Since then I've completed 6 rounds of Chemotherapy and 30 treatments of radiation to my lung and esophagus. These treatments have shrunk my tumors enough to where my lung has opened, to where I'm breathing again somewhat normal ( a miracle! ) , but my esophagus is in constant pain and the healing day to day is tough and really hard. I recently started immunotherapy a few months back, which is a monthly injection that will last the duration of a year. This is a new treatment method that targets the cancer, and fights it with the immune system. My first injections went smooth and I seem to be tolerating nicely, though had some recent pains and issues where i find out this week what they are. Also, this will be the week I find out if this treatment is working which obviously I am really nervous about. This treatment really gives me daily nausea , and extreme fatigue .Though 4th stage lung and esophagus cancer is deemed incurable, my doctors seem optimistic, with immunotherapy and today's technology, they can cure me. Overall we are doing our best to remain optimistic in the face of my issues and health and the daily pains and exhaustion which are side effects.

Since getting sick , my wife and I lost our living situation and have faced many struggles on top of the cancer such as losing our living place last year, and have found ourselves in quite the hole financially with bills and need piling up. I have waited out as long as I could to ask for help, but now its time. Currently we just found a nice place to live here in North Carolina we will be moving in soon after renting a tiny house for a couple months, which will be good for us so I can finish my year long treatment in a clean and ample environment. There are many new bills and deposits with the apartment and setting up water and electricity that we need help with. Also we have recently had some of our monthly bills raised such as car insurance and others. My van is in need of registering which is 200 here in NC, and much needed maintenance, my drivers door has been bungeed shut for the past year and a half! My wife just broke her phone and we had to get her a new one which depleted our savings. I am now getting small disability, but it is not enough for everything that has been piling up the past year, especially recently. I wouldn't ask for help unless we really need it, and we are very very grateful for any and all contributions to help me through this health crisis, as well as somehow contribute to us serving others and serving God.

We are both simple and grateful by nature, and only desire to be a little light in a otherwise dim and dark world, and help and love others.
