Honoring Monica Salinas - Help with Funeral & Family Support

Update 8/1/25 With heavy hearts, we share that Monica Salinas has passed away. She spent her final days in the comfort of her home, surrounded by love and the people who meant the most to her. Hello, my name is Mayra, and I am reaching out on behalf of my cousin, Monica Salinas, and her family, as they need our help. Monica is just 33 years old and facing a diagnosis of Stage 4 metastatic (terminal) breast cancer. While Monica continues to fight with incredible strength and resilience, her family is in urgent need of support to help manage the growing costs of medical care and daily living expenses during this challenging time.

Monica’s Story

Monica’s battle with cancer began six years ago, at only 27 years old, when she was first diagnosed with endometrial (uterine) cancer. After two years of treatment, she was declared in remission, and this provided a hopeful relief for her and her family. However, not long after, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and this time, the fight has been even more relentless.

Despite every effort and treatment available, the cancer has spread. Monica has endured seizures, injuries, and frequent hospitalizations. Through it all, she has continued to fight, saying she continues to do so for her family.

Monica’s husband, Luciano Ochoa, is doing all he can to care for his wife and their three children, ages 12, 10, and 4. He works full-time, manages the household, cares for the kids, and is at Monica’s side through hospital visits, treatments, and difficult days.

Though he carries this weight with quiet strength, it is clear that he cannot do it alone. He needs help, and we are turning to our family, friends, and anyone who can offer support to help lighten this immense hardship.

Hola, me llamo Mayra y les escribo en nombre de mi prima, Mónica Salinas, y su familia, quienes necesitan nuestra ayuda. Mónica tiene tan solo 33 años y está enfrentando una dura batalla contra el cáncer de mama en etapa 4 (cáncer terminal). Mientras Mónica continúa luchando con increíble fuerza y resiliencia, su familia necesita apoyo urgente para poder cubrir los gastos médicos y las necesidades del día a día durante estos tiempos difíciles.

La historia de Mónica

La lucha de Mónica contra el cáncer comenzó hace seis años, a los 27 años, cuando le diagnosticaron cáncer de endometrio (útero). Después de dos años de tratamiento, logró entrar en remisión. Sin embargo, poco después, fue diagnosticada con cáncer de mama, y esta vez, la lucha ha sido aun mas dificil.

A pesar de todos los esfuerzos y tratamientos disponibles, el cáncer se ha propagado. Mónica ha sufrido convulsiones, otras complicaciones y frecuentes hospitalizaciones. A pesar de todo, ha seguido luchando, afirmando que sigue haciéndolo por su familia.

Su esposo, Luciano Ochoa, está haciendo todo lo posible para cuidarla a ella y a sus tres hijos, que tienen 12, 10 y 4 años. Trabaja tiempo completo, atiende la casa, cuida a los niños y acompaña a Mónica en todo su proceso médico. Aunque lo hace con mucho amor, es evidente que no puede hacerlo solo. Necesita ayuda, y recurrimos a nuestra familia, amigos y a cualquiera que pueda ofrecer apoyo para aliviar esta inmensa dificultad.
