On Wednesday, November 12th, our mom endured a terrifying and traumatic attack by a Pitbull mix whose owner lost control of the leash. We are incredibly grateful that her neighbor heard her screams—just as the dogs were circling back for a second attack after running off when she fell. Her quick response may have saved her life.

The vicious attack left Mom with multiple deep puncture wounds and lacerations. She required immediate medical care and an ambulance transport to treat her injuries and check for possible fractures. She now faces months of painful wound care, bandage changes, and recovery.

Heartbreakingly, the dog’s owner did not have the insurance required to cover medical expenses, pain, or suffering in situations like this. Because of that, Mom has been left to shoulder all of the medical costs on her own.

Before the attack, Mom lived an independent and active life—often seen enjoying the cool mornings by riding her bike around her park. Now, due to the pain in her legs, she must rely on a walker just to get around. Because of her upbringing and her strong spirit, no one knows how limited her income truly is, this unexpected financial burden is overwhelming.
