Aid Mike Brewers Journey: Heart Health and Leukemia Battle
Donation protected
As most of you know my dad, Mike Brewer, had a heart attack the week of Thanksgiving ‘24 and had to have 3 stents placed. While his bloodwork during this time was critical and further tests were done, a week later we found out he has Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He has already had 2 rounds of a lower strength chemo since his heart isn’t in the shape it needs to be for the more powerful dose. Last week, my dad woke me up and was having an episode we thought to be a heart attack. It was Pulmonary Edema where fluid was on his lungs that was backing up from his heart and blocking his airways to where he couldn’t get any oxygen. He spent the night in Batesville and then was released the next day. He had a cardiologist appointment yesterday and was prescribed Entresto for his heart failure to hopefully strengthen his heart function a bit as it’s only at 25-30% right now. When he went to pick it up today at the pharmacy, he was told that insurance does not cover it and it is a little over $600 for a month supply. It was prescribed for 3 months but I called the doctors office today because we needed help with that immediately. They gave us a coupon to use for a free 30 day supply that can only be used once and they sent us some paperwork that he can fill out and hopefully get some kind of help on it from here on out. Not sure if it’ll be completely covered or if it’ll be partial, but hopefully not the full amount each month because he really needs this! Dad used the coupon today for the free month supply so he can get started on it. We aren’t sure how long the paperwork will take to be filed or even hear back from the company so I came here asking for some help for my dad so he doesn’t have to worry! He’s been unable to work since the beginning of November. Any amount helps and if you aren’t able to donate, prayers are also appreciated! Thanks to everyone in advance!
