Hello Everyone!!!
Thank you for taking the time to read this story about Mel (aka My Sister Melissa Martinez).
As many of you know Mel has been living in Chicago, IL since graduating from high school and had been working in the brewing/distillery industry over the past several years and not only was recognized for such outstanding accomplishments in the industry but was also increasingly struggling with alcoholism and started to drink heavily nearly every day/night of the week.

In recent weeks/months, Mel’s intoxicated state of being became life threatening and began to voice the need for help. On Monday, March 24, 2025 family members intervened and safely relocated Mel, then on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 Mel voluntarily entered a detox facility. On Tuesday, April 2, 2025 Mel self-admitted into an alcohol rehabilitation facility using their own savings to cover the substantial expense not covered by their health insurance.
While Mel has paid for treatment at the rehabilitation facility, to do so meant making the healthy decision to leave a job in the brewing/distilling industry, which is an industry they are not able to return to in an effort to begin and stay living a sober life.
While Mel received the encouragement and support of family members, Mel chose to enter rehab to better its health, future, relationships and in an effort to bring an end the generational curse that is alcoholism.
Mel has a better understanding of this disease and self, belief in higher being and self, desire to heal, and has a strong will to work toward lifelong sobriety
I am sharing Mel’s story with you and seeking your support because Mel has run out of funds to pay upcoming living expenses once they are discharged from the rehabilitation facility.
Funds received will be used to pay for Mel’s living and other debt expenses incurred during the period of detox, rehabilitation and recovery. No pressure but if you feel it’s a worthy cause, on behalf of Mel, I along with Mel and family members would greatly appreciate your generosity.
Thank you so much for reading this and for any and all contributions made. And Best wishes to all battling addiction.
