We’re rallying around our dear friend Melissa Cummings—an incredible nurse practitioner, educator, and mentor—who is facing a deeply challenging chapter in her life.

After years of selflessly caring for others, Melissa became seriously ill due to Breast Implant Illness (BII), a condition that many providers fail to warn about and many more are unaware of. Despite being a skilled clinician, she was blindsided by disabling symptoms and immense medical hardship.

Through grit and faith, she pursued answers, underwent a very serious and life changing operation to confirm the diagnosis, and is trying to rebuild and reestablish her health—but not without significant financial burden!

Melissa's recovery has been financially and physically overwhelming. Insurance denied coverage for surgery, and being self-employed, her health insurance is subpar at best. Travel and surgery expenses mounted, and her ability to work disappeared almost overnight. As a sole provider, she now over $21,000 in unpaid medical debt!
