My friend Melissa is in a world of hurt. I have decided to do a go fund me for her.

Melissa is a combat veteran who has volunteered with the American Red Cross doing disaster response. She was badly wounded in her service with the Army and has struggled ever since. She has spent her entire life trying to make the world a little bit better by helping out her community. And now she needs a lot of help.

She had pipes burst in her house and the insurance company jerked around until the entire house was destroyed. She finally got a settlement from the insurance company. Then the bank demanded she hire a contractor to repair the house except Maine does not license contractors. The company took the entire settlement and left her a house that did not pass inspections.

If that isn’t enough, the storage company “lost” one of the vaults of personal stuff she put into storage while repairs were happening to her house. Her grandmothers china, her military gear, her VA paperwork, close to 750 books, and her beloved Coke machine she salvaged and restored. Along with boxes of other personal items.

Then her heart broke. Literally. She has been in and out of the hospital having a pacemaker installed and then replaced with a pacemaker defibrillator. It has taken her over a year to recover. She still is having issues that require her to visit her cardiologist on a regular basis to have her medical device reset. She is now being paced in both her upper and lower chambers. Yes, my friend is now bionic though she is not a bionic woman.

I would like to raise the $25,000 she needs to do repairs to her house so she can sell it and move closer to the medical care she needs. This money will be used to buy materials and to pay a carpenter and a painter.

Please help one of those veterans who quietly has worked so hard to serve our nation in a very local way.
