Hello to all,
It’s with the deepest sadness and grief that I’m writing this message. Our much-loved son-in-law, Mike Andrus, our daughter Melissa’s husband, passed away Friday evening, October 11, 2024, due to stage 4 esophageal cancer after a 5-month battle. Processing what has just happened has been made all the more difficult due to the short time between diagnosis and his passing. Besides Melissa, there are three children in the immediate family: Benjamin, who is just eight years old, and Ava and Elijah, who are both 15 years old. It is impossible to express the depth of their mourning and shock at this loss.
Mike was an incredible son-in-law. I loved him like my own, and I find it difficult to write through the tears. He loved Melissa beyond measure; the kind of love written about in fairy tales. He loved his children deeply, and he was always teaching them and guiding them with a strong foundation of biblical knowledge, instilling in them the best morals: love for others, kindness, gratitude, integrity, empathy, non-judgmentalism, forgiveness, and generosity – the teachings of Jesus. The amount of time he took to have long conversations with them and help them with their homework was like nothing I’ve ever heard of or seen in other fathers. If all husbands and fathers treated their wives and children as Mike did, I honestly believe our entire world would be in a far better place. His loss will be felt every minute of every day.
Mike’s cancer moved quickly and severely. Because of this and the high cost of cancer treatment, plus unexpected funeral costs, the financial obligations mounted quickly and with little time to prepare. If you can show support and feel moved to donate, it would be sincerely and greatly appreciated. I am sure you can imagine what their situation entails.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, for prayers for the family, and for donating what you’re able. May the Lord bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you.
