The Matt Schooler’s Story ~
As I write this, the kind, gentle, and loving Matt Schooler has just come out of major surgery to amputate his left calve and foot at Banner Baywood in Mesa, AZ.
As Matt’s sister-in-Christ, I know that you, too, are curious to understand the profound depths and losses at which he continues to daily suffer.
As most of us have experienced in one way or another, there are times in all of our lives when a situation becomes too daunting and overwhelming, and yes, even for the strongest of souls like Matt.
Today is one of those days for him and after a confusing and confounding compilation of two and a half straight years of devastating physical losses, with medical and personal bills mounting, he is definitely deserving of each of our emotional and financial support and attention, as this newest journey of healing and coping continues for him.
Beginning with the loss of his wife, Joyce, after she suffered with Valley Fever and leukemia, she went to be with Jesus in April of 2023, and only a month earlier, in March of 2023, his older sister, too, went to be with our Lord, and now, heartbreakingly, as I write this on the eve of March 7th, Matt has found himself as an impatient at Banner Baywood in Mesa, AZ, and must now begin the long and arduous journey of recovery after his surgeon’s amputated his left calf and foot to save his very life.
Over the last few years building up to this moment, Matt has endured not only the loss of his loving bride, Joyce, he also has experienced the devastating FIRST blow of having his RIGHT calf and foot amputated only two short years ago in February of 2023.
Through it all, Matt has had to undergo dialysis treatments beginning in February of 2023, which requires him to go to the treatment center three times a week for three and a half hours each time, which continues even as he is hospitalized.
Matt has endured what most could and should never experience. As a man who loves Jesus and a father of three and a friend to all, he still carries many burdens on his shoulders and has many financial responsibilities that can only be met through the contributions from those who are willing to walk in the shoes he can no longer wear.
My personal ask is that out of all the different organizations and charities that hit us up daily through email and other channels that you may already lovingly donate to, that you would seriously consider contributing to Matt’s future here on GoFundMe, so that at least financially, Matt can rest easier, and maybe even more importantly, that you will know that you are making a humongous difference in the way he not only experiences the world, but that he is reassured in his heart and head that his life truly matters to us all!
