My name is Marlene Sanchez, I live in Homestead, FL, USA. In July 2023, my mom fractured her hip and was diagnosed with cancer, so I had to take six months off work to take care of her. (AUG2023 to JAN2024). After 6 chemotherapy sessions, she was discharged. In January 2025, the cancer returned. In March, my Mom fell. She underwent emergency surgery for a periprosthetic fracture, so I had to travel to Peru to care for and be with My Mother during her medical treatments.

I've been working for Amazon for over seven years. Actually, I'm on Care for a Family Member Leave since March. I'm grateful the company kept me at work, but unfortunately, I'm not receiving income. We know we always have expenses and bills, and I also need to cover many expenses in Peru with the treatment, medicines, prescriptions and modifications I have to make for my mother's needs.
