Funeral Expenses for Maria Ortega

Update: After a long hard battle against cancer my mother left earth side February 15 at 1:00pm. I am repurposing this gofundme that was originally meant to support her through chemo to help put her to final rest. I am thankful to everyone who has been there with us from the very start of this journey and I hope to see you all soon for the funeral.

Support Maria Ortega: A Teacher Fighting Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma

I am reaching out to my community to support Maria Ortega, a dedicated educator, an active member in her community, her church, and my mother. Over the years, my mom has taught at Tobias Elementary, Blanco Vista Elementary, Hemphill Elementary, Science Hall Elementary, and Uhland Elementary. I have watched her teach your children, their siblings, your children’s children, even a few parents.

Unfortunately, just two days before Thanksgiving, my mother was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It has been both emotionally and mentally hard for her and everyone involved, especially considering the financial burden fighting cancer has caused.

To support her during this difficult time, we are organizing a fundraiser to help ease some of the financial burdens she is facing. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in her recovery and well-being.
