Aid Margot's Post-Surgery Recovery

Donation protected
On Friday, March 21st, Margot was headed up to the roof of her RV to do some maintenance when the ladder she was using slid away. After hanging from the RV roof for a few minutes, she fell about 7 feet straight down on her feet. Luckily, Monica was able to rush Margot to the ER right away.

After many x-rays, CT scans, and discussions with the medical staff, it was determined that Margot had pilon fractures to both tibias as well as fractures to both ankle bones, and her left fibula. By strange coincidence, the ER had dealt with a similar case of these rare fractures just a day prior and were well equipped to help her.

Margot underwent surgery to both legs on Saturday, March 22nd, where her right leg was set with pins and plates, and her left leg was stabilized temporarily. After that, the healing process was closely monitored, and Margot had a second surgery on her left leg on Friday, March 28th. Both legs currently have external stabilization in addition to the internal hardware.

On Monday, March 31st, Margot was moved to a skilled nursing center to begin her recovery journey. There will be at least one additional surgery to remove the external stabilization hardware at some point during the recovery journey. Margot will most likely be completely non-weight bearing for 1-2 months.

We are raising funds to assist with getting Margot a wheelchair that she can use during her recovery, the portion of the extended stay rehab not covered by insurance, and other costs as they arise associated with her recovery.
