Aid Malikai's Family During Tough Times

Hello Everyone,

For those of you who don’t know Malikai and his parents’ story, as Nicole’s older sister, Samantha I feel like it was necessary to try to find some relief monetary wise for my nephew and his parents. Long story short, Malikai had complications when he was born 7 weeks early with Gastroschisis. He had to undergo several surgeries and spent the first four months of his life in the NICU. Once released he started living his life like any other little boy. Yes, we knew there would be obstacles along the way, but we weren’t expecting this.

This past week Malikai was experiencing headaches, throwing up non-stop, and just not acting himself. Nicole decided the best choice was to take him up to Lehigh Valley – Cedar Crest. After undergoing testing, doctors saw there was fluid on Malikai’s brain. This was caused by Malikai literally just growing and the tube he has in his belly was not long enough to do what it’s supposed to do. Malikai is currently at Cedar Crest; they are draining the fluid from his brain. On Tuesday, he will need to have surgery to lengthen the tube out, so this will never happen again. Malikai is only 3 years old, and he has undergone numerous surgeries already at his young age. As Malikai, his mom, and his dad are going through all of this, they also have a 3-week-old newborn baby to care for, little Shailo. Malikai’s parents, Nicole and Chauncey are currently staying in the Hackerman House up at Cedar Crest with their newborn baby just trying to get through this tough time. The medical costs are starting to add up and any type of donation or just sharing this would be greatly appreciated. Let’s get Malikai back to being himself and home!
