Hello. My name is Malakai, I am a disabled college student who cannot work due to disabilities. This fall semester i was given a large sum of money in order to pay expenses for the rest of the semester. This money was supposed to help me pay for a mobility aid as well as keep me fed and my two cats fed and taken care of. I was reached out to by a scammer who was impersonating my bank. They ended up taking $6180 from my account. I filed a police report and took the issue to my bank, Chime, and waited for them to investigate. Chime denied my claim over 5 times for my money and claimed it was my fault that I got hacked and stolen from. When I tried to argue the claim was incorrect, the bank hung up on me. I found out that Chime is well known for denying disputes and never giving people their money back, and has in fact been taken to court over it and lost. They have not changed their practices. So I have lost all of the money that was supposed to keep me alive for the next several months. I am starting this fundraiser so I dont have to be forced into rationing food for both me and my cats, and so I can afford gas to attend my classes this semester, as well as my car payment, and my wheelchair attachment to make mobility a lot easier for me as I have permanent shoulder damage caused by Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and cannot propel my own wheelchair when I need to use it. I appreciate you reading my story, and I appreciate any donations I get from this. I know the number is high, its the exact amount I lost. 2 transactions of $5,000 and $1,180. Thank you all for helping me to be able to survive the rest of the year.
