I’m reaching out on behalf of my very dear friend, Lynette, who recently retired and is now living on a fixed income. Just two weeks ago, while taking care of her home independently -as she always has, she suffered a serious fall and broke her hip.

She was diagnosed with osteopenia in 2020, which made her bones more fragile and contributed to the severity of this and two previous injuries. Two weeks ago, she underwent surgery to repair her hip, which now includes titanium screws to help it heal properly. While the surgery was successful, her recovery journey is just beginning.

She faces several weeks of follow-up doctor visits and physical therapy, all of which come with significant medical expenses. As a retiree, these unexpected costs are overwhelming.
