Hi, my name is Lynette. I’m a single mom, a full-time employee, and a graduate student finishing up my master’s degree at New Mexico State University. I’ve been doing everything I can to build a better future for myself and my child but now I’m facing one of the biggest challenges of my life.
Recently, I was diagnosed with HSIL (High-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion), which puts me at a much higher risk for cervical cancer. After consulting with my doctor, it was determined that I need a hysterectomy next month. While this surgery will greatly reduce my risk, it doesn’t completely eliminate the possibility of cancer.
On top of the emotional toll, this diagnosis comes with a huge financial strain. I already owe a significant amount to two hospitals due to a high-deductible insurance plan, and this upcoming surgery will only add to my medical bills. My doctor recommends taking six weeks off to recover, but as a single mom working full-time, I simply can’t afford that. I’ve compromised by planning to take two weeks off with the option of extending my recovery if needed — but even two weeks without pay will make things very difficult.
I’m reaching out for help to get through this overwhelming time. Any donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward:
Paying down my existing hospital bills
Covering the costs of my upcoming surgery
Supporting me and my child while I recover
As someone who has always worked hard to provide for my family and achieve my goals, it’s not easy to ask for help but I truly need it right now. Even if you can’t donate, sharing my story or keeping me in your prayers would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, generosity, and support.
With gratitude,
Lynette
