This past weekend, Lucie (age 11) was suddenly unable to bear any weight. Her mom rushed her (from the west side of the state!) to Mott's Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor where Lucie was diagnosed with Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis. This means Lucie has a fracture through the growth plate in her hip. It required surgery that occurred on sweet Lucie's birthday. It is predicted that she may be in a wheelchair for up to three months.
Because of the emergent needs that have surprised the family, things such as a wheelchair ramp, deductibles needing to be met, and Amanda having to take FMLA, the family finds themselves in a very tight spot. Let's step up as a community around this sweet group of girls and take care of them so Amanda can care for Lucie without the distraction of financial worry!
