Aid Louie's Family After His Loss

Our boy Louie was only 7 years old and declined rapidly, leaving us with immense grief and medical bills from his care, which we are here humbly asking for help with. This is his story.

On Sat, we noticed he was lethargic and bloated with labored breathing, and we rushed him to the vet. They found fluid in his abdomen, removed it, and gave us a couple of possible causes. Ultimately, he needed a lot more testing to find the cause. After we took him home and watched him for the night, he still wasn't eating, and the vet suggested we take him to the animal hospital. When we arrived at the AMC, they let us know that he was unstable and would need to be admitted and stabilized until they could figure out the cause and hopefully find a resolution or treatment. The next day, we got a dreadful call that he was hypotensive and they needed to do one more test to confirm a diagnosis. We went to visit that day, and the vet pulled us to the side and told us the worst-case scenario: it was large cell carcinoma. Even worse, his condition was declining, and he might not have made it through the night and wasn't stable enough for treatment. Once we saw him, we knew he was suffering and made the impossible decision to put him to sleep. Our hearts are absolutely shattered with grief. Louie was the sweetest cat with the biggest personality (and some sass). If someone was sad, he would go to them and rest his paw on them. When he wanted pets, he would tap you on the arm. And when mama stopped petting him for 2 seconds, he would give a little bite to tell her, "Mom, keep petting me." He loved his food and bothering his brother Marley. But above all, he loved finding a comfy spot with mom and dad in bed and burying his head. We hope you found the ultimate comfy spot, Louie.
