Aid Liza and Her Son in Their Time of Need

Hi, it’s Liza. Over the last few months, I was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma that was attached to some scar tissue in my left breast. In the last week and a half, I have had 2 mammograms, a chest X-ray, an EKG, my blood drawn 5 times, and a biopsy in 3 different locations in my left breast. They finally cleared me for surgery. I had surgery on Tuesday the 14th. (Yes, 2 days ago).
In the middle of all this, I lost my Medicaid. Why, I don’t know, since I haven’t been working. All of this has either been on credit cards or funds that I saved to get through the slow season. Those funds are now exhausted. I need help to make it through the next couple of months. I have no idea how I’m going to pay rent or anything else that I need. I’ve been instructed to do the bare minimum for 3 weeks due to the fact that I have internal and external stitches.
As many of you know, my 34-year-old son had a stroke and a heart attack on May 10, 2023 and he never fully recovered. He’s partially paralyzed and has a vocabulary of maybe eight words. He can’t even say his own name. I am his caregiver. We are still waiting on long-term Medicaid for me to get help to have a caregiver for him so that when I’m able to, I can work more. We have been waiting for this for over a year and a half. They lost his application twice. In order for me to work, he needs care due to the fact he has seizures and can only use one arm.
It’s been a rough couple of years. During that time, I never asked for help. I made it through the best that I could. I was going to put a GoFundMe up around Christmas, but I couldn’t muster up the courage to do it and I didn’t want to interrupt or put any sadness in anyones holiday cheer. As you all know, I’m a hard worker and I’m willing to work but I can’t at this time. I’m independent and I’m a do-it-yourself type of person. It takes a lot for me to be humble and ask for help. I would not be asking for help if it wasn’t needed. If there’s anything you can do to help, please do so. Even buying a pack of toilet paper or paper towels, laundry soap etc anything you can do to help me and my son through this hard time would be appreciated.
I also hope to raise money to help me purchase the car that I am currently driving. My truck is not reliable; it has 350,000 miles on it. It is not fixable, at least not with the funds I have. My friend has been allowing me to drive his 2009 Honda Accord with 67,000 miles on it. He’s willing to sell it to me for $3000 if I give him the truck as well. I’ve been driving it for a couple of months and have not been able to pay that. He has someone else that wants to buy it but I really need to keep this car. I can’t take the chance of me and my paralyzed son getting stuck on the side of the road if I keep that truck. It’s a good deal and I’m hoping that I will be able to come up with enough money to buy this car before he sells it. My son and I have multiple appointments, and I have to have transportation for mine and my son’s needs.
Please help us if you can. Thank you for all your support. ❤️ Liza
