From Elsabe on 10/5/2024:
Our lives were turned upside down a little over 24 hours ago. As we rounded out an amazing fall break trip to NYC and Mystic, CT, we woke up on the day we planned to return home to find that Lisette was having a seizure in our hotel bed. She was initially unconscious. As we waited for EMS to arrive, she began regaining consciousness and let us know she could not feel her legs. At the hospital in New London, the MD ordered a CT scan when Lisette complained of a headache. The scan revealed a brain bleed and aneurysm. She was airlifted to Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. Since she arrived, she has received the most gracious, aggressive and advanced treatment available. The Neurology team has given her a Ventrical drain / catheter, an arterial line to monitor her BP intravenously, and an angiogram. During the procedure, it was determined that she has experienced additional rupture, in other words, she has suffered complications. She now has a central line and the primary goal is to control her intracranial pressure (ICPs), and monitor her EEG for additional seizures and vagas spasms. Her condition is critical and we are praying for minute to minute survival. We will be by her bedside in New Haven for weeks if not months. We ask you for your prayers first and foremost. If you are seeking ways to help us, please know that the distance from home and expense of providing air travel for family to see her is our biggest need. We are so grateful to have a Ronald McDonald apartment across the street and expect to rely on it heavily. We are so grateful for all your outreach and support. We will rely on that as well. We will continue to update you as her condition changes.
