My name is Leticia Morales, victim of uterine cancer. I'm a mother of one 16-year-old boy, I'm also a U.S. Army veteran and an elementary school teacher. Back in September of 2024, I started having kidney problems, so I started paracentesis therapy. It started to get worse, so infection built up; this led to ulcers. Later in the year, during November of 2024, I was diagnosed with uterine cancer. Unfortunately, I didn't have health insurance and I had missed the gap that my job provided, so everything was being paid out of pocket. No major hospital and specialist would treat me without insurance, so eventually, I got a lot worse. With God's help, my family and I found a specialist that would treat me regardless of my situation with insurance. They treated me in the ICU for about 2-3 weeks. My son and husband were there spending the night with me throughout my entire time in the hospital. Then the tragic news came to me: I was told there was no cure for my illness and that I would be sent into hospice for my final days. My family and I really tried to get a transfer to a better hospital, but they were all rejecting me due to my advanced illness. So this led me to go into hospice and live my final days at my parents' house, surrounded by my family that I love so very much.
