Repatriation Fund for Leonard: A Final Journey Home
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lorna Cabasal, I am the mother of Leonard Noel Cabasal. Before moving to the U.S., he worked at a TV network (RPN9), but when the network closed, all employees were left without a job. In 2005, my son went to the US hoping to have a better life.
Everything went smoothly until he was rushed to the emergency room of Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2016 after experiencing dizziness and vomiting. He was examined by one of the physicians at Jackson Memorial Hospital and was found to have kidney failure in both kidneys, requiring him to undergo dialysis three times a week. Despite his dialysis treatments, he still had to work to support his family and daughter in the Philippines.
He used to work at a Japanese-American restaurant, where he dedicated himself fully. His employer is still waiting for him to recover and return. From 2016 until now, he has been in and out of the hospital due to various complications. He even contracted COVID-19 because his immune system is very weak, which is one of the reasons he is unable to return to work.
His passport has expired, and he has no money to renew it, even though he desperately wants to return to the Philippines to be with his family. We are asking for help so that his mother can visit him, take care of him, and help him regain strength. Her support would allow him to return home to the Philippines, reunite with his daughter and family, and receive the care he desperately needs.
Currently, he is homeless and staying at PineCrest Rehabilitation Center, where he is receiving therapy for his hips and arm, which were operated due to fractures. He continues to undergo dialysis three times a week.
