Help Lauren in Restoring Her Life Post-Hurricane
Donation protected
Dear friends and community,
I am reaching out during a time of great need for my sister, Lauren, and her beloved dog, Rambo. Recently, Madeira Beach, Florida, was devastated by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Storm surge from Helene, mixed with sewage, flooded Lauren’s home. The flood damage destroyed everything. Lauren and Rambo are left with nothing but the few personal belongings that Lauren managed to evacuate in her car. Unfortunately, her renter’s insurance will not cover her loss, as storm surge damage is specifically excluded from her policy. In addition to furniture and clothing, she lost family pictures and keepsakes (they were placed up high but not high enough). She also lost a cherished lifelong collection of books including first editions and signed copies from favorite authors including Stephen King, Joe Hill, and Kurt Vonnegut. Among the collection of books were Tom Clancy novels passed down from our deceased father.
For over thirty years, Lauren has dedicated her life to working with non-profit organizations, helping disadvantaged populations, and making a difference in the lives of others. She worked with NH youth in Dover, Goffstown and Manchester before moving to Florida in 2008 and continuing to work with youth in St Petersburg and Clearwater. Now she's in a challenging situation, having lost all her possessions and a place to call home and needing help herself. She's currently staying with a friend nearby and looking for a permanent home along with thousands of other displaced Floridians.
We are seeking your support to help Lauren recover from this devastating loss. Your generous donations will go towards:
• Replacing essential personal belongings i.e. furniture, kitchen items and bedding.
• Temporary housing costs and upfront costs of a new place to live.
• Basic necessities like clothing—she evacuated with a week's worth of clothes, but all "Florida winter" clothing was lost in the flood. She has shorts and t-shirts but no long pants, long-sleeved shirts, or jackets.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant impact on her recovery. If you cannot donate, sharing this message with your network would also be a tremendous help.
Thank you for considering helping Lauren during this difficult time. Your support means the world to her and will aid in her journey to rebuild her life.
With gratitude,
Dan DeCourcey
