Emergency Rental Assistance Request Letter

Subject: Emergency Assistance Request for Past Due Rental Payments
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to respectfully request emergency rental assistance for myself and my family concerning past due rental payments for the months of July and August 2025. This urgent request is being made to prevent the imminent risk of eviction from our home.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have fallen behind on my rent. My financial hardship began because of my landlord’s failure to accept my rental payments as well as a failure to provide my family with the Reasonable Medical Accommodations that I made as well as the medical professionals that takes care of the well-being and the safety of my family. I have been wrongfully denied the right to the request to be transferred to a more handicap accessible unit because I have two service animals that the property manager is afraid of. Because she was unable to force me to get rid of my two service pets and I requested the help of the office of Senator Jon Ossoff. The caseworker that was assigned to my case felt that I was being discriminated against from the emails that she had been forwarded to her by me as proof of the things that we were being told as well as the responses that she had received, when she tried to make contact with the Property Management Office Staff about the issues that I contacted them for help with get the reasonable medical accommodations that my family
and I. As a result, the total amount of $1,010.00 in past due rent has accrued, as ordered to be paid into the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County, State of Georgia.
I would also like to inform you that this matter is currently involved in ongoing legal proceedings. The case began in the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County but has since been transferred to the Superior Court. In addition, there is an active discrimination investigation being conducted by HUD, and we are awaiting a determination regarding the outcome.
The urgency of this request cannot be overstated. According to the Court's order, I must pay the past due rent into the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County by August 19, 2025. If the payment is not made by this date, a writ of possession will be granted to my landlord, the Decatur Housing Authority, placing my family and me at risk of losing our home.
Please note that I will be able to continue making future monthly payments in the Magistrate Court as ordered, but I require immediate assistance to address the current past due rental payments and forestall eviction while the Superior Court or HUD completes their review.
I respectfully request your prompt consideration and support in this matter, as the well-being and stability of my family depend on your assistance. All supporting documentation, including court orders and correspondence, can be provided upon request.
Thank you for time and attention to this urgent issue. I look forward to your compassionate response.
Sincerely Yours,
Mrs. Latasha Lorine Harris
