My name is Macie. I am Lane's older sister. Let me start by saying, we are a proud people who don't typically ask for help; however, these are different circumstances than we have ever been in.
As a lot of you know, Lane had to undergo open-heart surgery due to having Endocarditis. In the beginning, we were expecting a simple surgery to clear the infection and replace his aortic valve. He was born with an Aortic Valve Stenosis, and we expected that someday he might have to have the valve replaced. What we were not expecting, nor was the surgeon, was the amount of damage the infection had caused. Upon further inspection, the surgeon found Lane's heart to look like Swiss cheese. There were so many holes. The surgeon ended up having to replace the aortic valve, partially replace the mitral valve, use tissue from his liver to patch all of the holes in his heart, and also had to take a vein from Lane's leg to perform a bypass and put in a pacemaker. The surgeon was shocked that Lane was still with us given the condition of his heart.
Lane will also be on IV antibiotics for the next 6 weeks or so. He has been through quite a lot and has not been able to work for the past couple of weeks and won't be going back to work anytime soon. Recovery is going to take some time. Like the rest of us, he will still have rent, utilities, insurance, etc., to pay for. Not to mention, the medical bills. We humbly ask for your help in getting Lane through this trying time. Thank you all for your prayers. They were felt and they worked!! We ask that you continue praying for him during his recovery. Thank you!!!
