Hi Everyone,

My name is Khyati, my mother Lalita unfortunately suffered an ischemic stroke in early July. She is in the process of her recovery and is working really hard to regain her mobility. She is currently wheelchair bound and homebound.

As her sole caretaker, I’m hoping to raise funds to support her recovery process. Funds will also support our move from Atlanta, Georgia to San Diego, California as I embark on my first year of graduate school at UC San Diego.

You may think what a strange thing to try and achieve during a moment like this, however this opportunity is prestigious, it's free and requires me to attend in person. Drama School isn't possible online, and my mom would not want me to delay my education and this experience to be her sole caregiver. We are excited to head across the country together.

To achieve this, we may have to utilize non medical emergency transportation, which in itself costs $15,000 and is not covered by health insurance. In addition to the cost of moving, we will also need to purchase home health expenses such as PPE, items for elderly care and for a caregiver.

There is no clear recovery timeline for a stroke patient, and is not a process you want to rush. These funds will help support us as we embark on a new and complicated chapter of our lives. Thank you for contributing!
