Hi, my name is Kristen, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my family of four wonderful kids (two with special needs) and our two beloved large dogs.

On the morning of August 4, 2025, a fire broke out in our neighbor’s apartment. While the flames didn’t directly reach our unit, the smoke damage made our home completely uninhabitable. Overnight, we were forced to leave everything behind — from clothing and school supplies to essential items our special needs children rely on daily.

We're so grateful that everyone — including our dogs — are safe. But the emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming. Temporary housing has been especially difficult to find due to breed and weight restrictions for our dogs, who are not just pets but part of our family. They provide emotional support and comfort, especially for our kids during times like this. Giving them up is not an option — they’ve been through this trauma with us.

The apartment complex does not have any vacant units available for us, so we are rushing to relocate.

We’re doing everything we can to stay strong and rebuild, but the costs are adding up fast. We’re humbly asking for help as we navigate this challenging time. Donations will go toward:

Temporary housing that can accommodate our whole family — dogs included

Replacing basic necessities (clothes, food, hygiene items)

Sensory tools and medical items for our special needs children

Emergency expenses as we work toward stable housing
