Fundraiser for Kimberly Hernandez & Her Son, Karsyn

Hi, my name is Cammie Dixon, and I am organizing this fundraiser for Kimberly Hernandez, a 31-year-old single mother who is facing an unimaginable loss.

Instead of celebrating her birthday on March 18, Kim spent the day at the bedside of her youngest son, Karsyn (age 9), who bravely battled Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG)—a rare and aggressive brain tumor that primarily affects children between ages 5 and 10.

Karsyn was diagnosed in April 2024, just two weeks after Kim gave birth to her youngest daughter, Karlee. His first symptoms appeared when he had an accident at school and was unable to explain why he didn’t go to the restroom. Soon after, he began having balance issues and trouble walking. Trusting her mother’s intuition, Kim took Karsyn to the hospital, where multiple tests confirmed the devastating DIPG diagnosis.

Throughout this heartbreaking journey, Kim never left her son’s side, which meant she was unable to work. Karsyn was a loving and joyful child, always surrounded by his siblings—Marques (14), Karmella (6), and baby Karlee (11 months)—who stayed by his side, even sleeping next to him during hospital stays.
