Aid Kim Thomson's Rehabilitation Journey
Donation protected
On February 12th, our brother-in-law, Kim Thomson, was out walking with Tamara, his wife, and their Saint Bernard, Morris, and slipped down cement stairs, hitting his head and knocking him unconscious. Tamara took him to the Emergency room, where they did a CT scan and found a small brain bleed that they didn't think was too serious and would resolve on its own. Since then, Kim has been dealing with symptoms of a concussion. Last Friday, March 21st, Kim was showing concerning symptoms and ended up back in the emergency room, and another CT scan revealed two slow brain bleeds on either side of his head. He was admitted to the hospital. The Neurosurgeon was very concerned about how much blood had accumulated, and surgery was scheduled for early the following day to drain the accumulating blood. Currently, Kim is unable to use the right side of his body. We are hopeful he will recover from this, but it's going to be a long road before he is able to live an everyday working life. Because of the unpredictability of his head injury, we (Tamara's sisters) have started a GoFundMe to offset the Thomsons' future medical bills, which will also include physical and occupational therapy that will undoubtedly be needed for a full recovery. Tamara's tenacity in caring for her beloved husband, while continuing to teach full time at UVU and part time at BYU, has been humbling to witness. Tamara and her family are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love for their family during this time.
