My name is Diane Cox. I am a dear friend of Connie Mabry; we have been friends since high school. Her son, Kevin Mabry, and my daughter, Kim Kingery, were born on the same day in Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and the doctor put Connie and me in the same room.
The other day, Kevin went to an outpatient clinic to have minor surgery done. He ended up falling and hitting his head while there, and they rushed him to the emergency room. The doctor said he was bleeding from the brain and had him airlifted to a hospital in Orlando, Florida. There, he had emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. Kevin had a subarachnoid bleed, and a CT scan showed an aneurysm. He couldn't breathe on his own at one point, so they put in a breathing tube. From Melbourne Regional, he was airlifted to ORMC in Orlando. He was rushed from the ER there to neuro ICU to start the plan for treatment. The neurosurgeon did an angiogram and then performed an aneurysm coiling and repaired it. He's got a long road to recovery, but he's going to make a full one. Kevin is in a lot of pain until the blood is reabsorbed by the tissues. His head swelled just a little bit, but that will resolve after a few days.
Connie is there now with the help of friends and wants to stay with her baby until next Monday, the 21st. Rebecca and little Kevin have been traveling from home to the hospital every day, and Connie is staying in a hotel, which is very expensive. They found the cheapest one they can find in Orlando. Any monies will be so appreciated for gas, which is almost $4.00 per gallon, food, and hotel expenses. God has spared Kevin's life for a reason, and we pray and thank God for sparing him. Please, if you have anything to spare, please donate to this wonderful cause. Kevin has a long hospital stay, I think about 21 more days. Pray for a speedy recovery, and anything you can donate will be appreciated.
