My name is Crissy and I am the daughter of Kelly Preble. I am seeking funds to help my mom pay her medical bills and all other expenses that come with cardiac surgery and rehab.
My mom has been dealing with congestive heart failure for a few years now. She went in for a stress test in late June and it was abnormal. That led to a series of tests and scans. They ultimately found a blockage in her heart. On July 9th, mom went in for an angiography procedure. During the procedure, her coronary artery started dissecting. It was at this point, I got the call.
I work at St. Mary’s, so I immediately met with the cardiac intervention team to discuss the procedure. When I was taken back, they brought me to bay 33. (More on this later). After explaining the procedure, they said she needed surgery to repair her coronary artery. They told me there was a surgeon right outside the door who was willing to take on the case, and for that, we will forever be grateful. She was in surgery for 12 hours. 12 long, painful, and scary hours.
Mom is out of the ICU, has a pacer connected, ongoing dialysis (kidneys just don’t want to rev up), lab tests, CT scans, ultrasounds, physical therapy, and tube feedings. A CT scan showed a stroke, so she will need ongoing physical therapy as well.
Now back to bay 33… my stepdad’s softball number was 33 and it was HIS number for everything. My dad passed away 5 years ago. He was with us that day. I felt it.
My parents pour their hearts into their community and helping others. My dad was a fire chief for a volunteer fire department for over 20 years and my mom supported everything he did. They worked with a lot of non-profit organizations and donated a lot of time during the flood of 2010, just to name a few. They are always the first to help in a time of loss and need.
This is where it is time for me to ask for help for mom’s medical expenses. She is a one-income household with ongoing expenses. There will be a benefit at the Neptune Bar in Zumbro Falls in the future, date TBD. If you are able to attend, please do so! This page is run by family and will be a kickstart to helping pay for expenses that have been accruing thus far.
Keep the thoughts and prayers coming!
