I am writing this on behalf of my sister, Kellie and her husband, Rob.
For those of you who don’t know her story, my beautiful niece Serenity was diagnosed with multiple congenital heart defects at birth.
Since the day she was born, they have been in and out of hospitals and doctor’s offices with many appointments and endless amounts of tests being done. One of which unfortunately included Senni spending her first Christmas in the children's hospital. Due to her heart condition it is a struggle for her to even feed from a bottle. After 6 days, they were able to head home with a feeding tube for her, with the hope it would help her gain weight. Despite all she has been through so far in her 4 months of life, she is so strong and happy, with the sweetest little personality!
Recently, Senni and her family were given a surgery date of February 18th. She will undergo a major operation that will repair her heart. Her recovery will last multiple weeks in the hospital, followed by further long term recovery at home with family.
Navigating parenthood is challenging enough, but it's especially difficult when your child has complex medical needs. It has been challenging for Senni and her family, but I know Kellie is so grateful to be home with her daughter, being the best parent taking care of her little girl.
Rob has returned to work, allowing for Kellie to continue to stay home and give Senni the 24/7 care she needs. Unfortunately, Kellie has exhausted her 12 weeks of FMLA and will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. It would be beneficial for my sister to be able to remain home with Senni, caring for her for as long as possible. All donations will help ease the financial burden of being out of work for a long and unknown period of time, until her daughter is fully healthy and recovered.
Thank you for taking the time to stop and read about Serenity’s story, for sharing it with friends & family, and for all of your donations, positive thoughts, and well wishes. Your generosity will ease the financial burden for them during this emotional and stressful time.
Your kindness is so greatly appreciated.
