Help Support Katrine’s Fight for Her Horses and Livelihood

Donation protected
Katrine has been a lifelong equestrian, dedicating herself to the care and training of off-the-track thoroughbreds (OTTBs) since the age of 11. Over the years, she’s built her career around giving retired racehorses a second chance—training them for new disciplines and loving homes. Beyond that, she has championed accessibility in the equestrian world by creating opportunities for children from underserved backgrounds to experience the joy of working with horses.

In September 2024, Katrine faced a major disruption. The facility where she was operating issued an eviction and took possession of her business property and six horses. This was done without prior notice or a court order, and the events surrounding the removal are currently under legal dispute. Despite these challenges, Katrine has continued to support the horses financially—covering veterinary care, farrier services, feed, supplements, and other essential supplies—though she has not been permitted to visit or directly care for them during this ongoing dispute.

Efforts to resolve the matter through mediation were unsuccessful, and the situation has now moved to formal litigation. A central focus of the case is determining the rightful ownership and future care of the six horses—four of which are retired thoroughbreds with training in progress, and two beloved ponies that have played an important role in Katrine’s community programming with children.

The opposing party has asserted financial claims against Katrine, which she disputes as being inaccurate and significantly inflated. These claims have complicated the situation and delayed resolution, placing a continued burden on her to sustain both the legal process and the horses’ welfare.

Katrine is committed to letting the legal process run its course. However, the emotional and financial toll of fighting for her animals—and the work she’s spent a lifetime building—has become overwhelming. She is now reaching out to the community for support. Every contribution helps ensure her horses receive continued care and gives Katrine the ability to see this process through to its rightful conclusion.

If you'd like to learn more, this matter is filed with the Superior Court of Ventura County under Civil Case No. 2024CUBC034086. Public access is available through the county’s case search system.

Thank you for standing with Katrine during this incredibly difficult time.
