Hello, my name is Kátia, I'm 39 years old, married, and the mother of two girls, who are my daily strength to continue fighting.

In October 2024, I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, one of the most aggressive types. Since then, my life has been turned upside down. I underwent 16 chemotherapy sessions and, after treatment, a bilateral mastectomy with breast reconstruction.

Unfortunately, serious complications arose. Three months after surgery, one of my breasts developed severe inflammation, causing fluid accumulation and, subsequently, skin rupture and exposure of the implant. This began an unexpected and extremely painful journey post cancer treatment.

So far, I've had:

• 6 emergency and reconstructive surgeries

• Multiple drainages

• Exposed prosthesis replacement

• Tissue loss and severe difficulty healing

• Abdominal skin removal for breast reconstruction

• Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

• Treatments at a specialized wound clinic and daily special dressings

This battle has required strength, courage, and faith, but it has also had a devastating financial impact on our family. Many of the costs are not covered by health insurance, such as medications, special dressings, therapies, travel, lodging, and procedures.
