Judy is a 67-year-old native of Gastonia & has end-stage lung disease. She was referred to the Duke University Lung Transplant Program in August 2024. It is a mandatory Duke requirement that she have enough donations/funds available to pay for all expenses involved in moving to Durham during the pre/post-transplant period of 5-6 months. The raised funds will be used for her & her caregiver's travel & housing/living expenses as well as medicine/medical co-pays & extended care if needed. None of these expenses are covered by insurance.

Recovery without complication is expected to be up to a year post-transplant with continued medical travel & care through Duke.

Lung transplant is Judy's only option to save/extend her life, as all other medical possibilities have been exhausted.

She is a loving Grandma to her granddaughter Ezra & has 2 sons, Jonathan (Brittany) & Landon. She is married to Earl Hill, a Navy Veteran of 22 years, & sister to Sandy Bishop. She is retired after working 20 years at Hoechst Celanese, Mt. Holly & 10 years as founder of Sisco Fire & Safety.
