Aid Josh Lijewski’s Journey to Full Recovery
Donation protected
Over the past year, Josh and Errin have worked towards their goal of enrolling Josh into an electrical apprenticeship. After several applications, testing, and interviews, their plan worked! In an effort to support their family goal, Errin put her career on hold to care for Eliot while allowing Josh to focus on the apprenticeship demands.
On Tuesday, while working in the extreme heat, Josh quickly began experiencing symptoms of severe dehydration. After several evaluations and hours later, his physical examination had minimal improvement. The decision was then made to perform a CT of his brain, which revealed a right cerebellar stroke. Because the stroke was discovered several hours after initial onset, he was outside of the window for intervention.
Cognitively, Josh is doing extremely well. Unfortunately, though, he has deficits surrounding his ability to stand and walk. He is currently stable in the ICU. Once discharged, he will go to subacute rehab to learn to walk again. His medical team feels with rehab and determination, he will make a full recovery.
Sacrifice of the electrical apprenticeship includes no medical insurance for the first four months of employment, which he is unfortunately still in. Monetary donations will be used for medical bills, rehab, and taking care of their basic daily needs.
Let’s rally around them and help in any way we can! Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through the difficult days ahead.
