In October 2024, Joseph Butts was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Stage 4 head and neck cancer. He has undergone several procedures to remove cancerous areas in his mouth and neck, including a partial reconstruction of his tongue. After an initial 7 rounds of chemotherapy, 30 radiation treatments, and hormonal treatment, Joe’s cancer was in remission.

However, in June 2025, they received the heartbreaking news that Joe’s cancer had returned, and he would have to undergo another round of chemotherapy and radiation. Joe’s next round of treatment will begin at the end of August 2025. As we all know, this type of treatment will come at a significant cost and has the potential to increase the financial burden on their family. Currently, Gloria and Daryl (Joe’s parents) are his sole caretakers. This fundraiser is to financially support the Butts as they navigate these tough times.

Joe is a child of God and has served in the Army Reserves for the last 10 years. He has been deployed and has served his country with honor. Additionally, he has decided to remain on reserve duty and continue working throughout his treatment.
