Aid Johnny's Life-Saving Transplant

Help our family raise funds for our dad, Johnny McPherson. Johnny was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver about 7 years ago. His is from having a fatty liver. He has been traveling to Duke University since August 2024 to complete the transplant requirements. He was finally approved to be put on the transplant list Tuesday, April 1, 2025. We are extremely excited about this huge possibility of a transplant. We know that a life will be lost and prayers that one is saved.

Our dad is an extremely loving and devoted husband to our mom, Judy of 51 years this month. Loves his children Christina, Johnny Jr. and Kelley, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Johnny is a huge supporter of family helping each other and others. Being from a large family of 14, family has always supported each other. Our dad has always been an extremely hard worker. He loves his community and supports local charities or events. If he knows or thinks anyone might need help or assistance he is there. It could be financially, house repairs, or car issues. If he can help he does. He LOVES anything antique and especially automobiles.

Since being diagnosed his life and ours have changed. From someone who owned his own electric company and always on the go this is definitely a change. He cannot do what he loves because he gets tired so easily and quickly. He has memory issues due to the difficulty of getting rid of toxin buildups in the body.

Like anyone who is diagnosed with health issues there are always extra costs. For our family the cost not only include medical out of pocket expenses but also travel and lodging. If our dad is fortunate to receive a transplant he could potentially stay in ICU for several days before being release to outpatient. Being he lives 4hrs away from Duke part of the requirements are he stays within a 1hr drive from Duke for at least 30 days. He will have to travel to the hospital several times a week during his stay for checkups. Duke requires that he have two caregivers stay with him at all times during this process.

This is where we ask for prayers, share this page, and if you are financially able to help us raise money for the out-of-pocket expenses. Our goal we would like to reach is $20,000. This is a lot, but it is needed. Johnny’s insurance this year has a high out of pocket deductible before 100% is covered. Lodging will be at least 5 weeks. Then we have extras like gas, food, and items needed after he is released from the hospital.
