My father, John Michael Kalcic, was at work the week of July 21-26 but was feeling sick. His co-workers said he didn’t look good and on Sunday, July 27 I took him to Akron General.

The doctors did an MRI and ultrasound, and diagnosed him with pancreatic cancer.

He started on chemotherapy right away. He was in the hospital for 2 weeks, but was able to go home August 8 to recover.

On August 18 he went back into the hospital because of a bad blood test. The doctors did some more tests and told him Friday, August 22 that the cancer had spread into his liver and he is now in liver failure.

Unfortunately they can’t operate or put him on a transplant list. He has run out of options.

His cancer is at stage 4, and it is moving fast. The doctors have given him maybe a month to live.

He cares so much for his family and provides almost everything for us. All funds will help with gas, groceries, fees for an attorney for the estate, medical costs, and monthly bills at home.

We can’t imagine losing my dad, but we know the support of the community will help us get through this moment.
