Aid Jody Critical Recovery & Fight with Cervical Cancer

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alicia and I come here today asking for help for my mother, Jody Hasey. She has currently been in the hospital since November 5th. One week before that, she was officially diagnosed with cervical cancer. She was also struggling to find a place to live after being recently displaced after her divorce. She was struggling physically and mentally. It got to a point that I had to go and do a wellness check on her. She was then sent to the hospital because she seemed very out of it and unwell. When she got into the hospital, we were told that she went into sepsis and would not have made it to the next morning. We were very thankful to get her in when we did, but we thought that was the end of it. She remained in the ICU and then was transferred to Advent Health in Orlando. Her condition began to worsen over the next couple of weeks, and the doctors were unable to find the source of the infection, all while the cancer was growing. The cancer continued to give her more complications that she needed multiple procedures for so she didn’t lose function of her kidneys. Every time I saw her, she looked worse and worse until Thanksgiving, where she was no longer able to breathe on her own. She had developed pneumonia in the hospital. With this, she had to be put on a ventilator. She has now currently been on it for almost two weeks. She now has to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility in Tampa for her very specific case. She has 4-6 weeks to get off of the ventilator or she will most likely never be able to breathe on her own again. These next few weeks are crucial for her future. While that is a challenge in itself, even if she is able to breathe on her own again, she may have completely lost the ability to walk. While in the hospital, she also had three strokes which have potentially paralyzed her from the waist down. She’s on IV steroids and is going to go through rigorous rehabilitation to try and see if there can be a change, but it’s all unsure. All I want from this is to raise awareness of my mother’s fight and get her the help she needs after this, whatever the outcome may be. While this journey has been hard on her, I have faith she will get through this. She has to. She has five daughters who all love and adore her. She’s only 42 and has a full life ahead of her. I ask that anyone do whatever you can, whether that be pray, donate, or keep her in your thoughts during this time. She needs to be sent all the love and know that she is not alone in this fight. I want her to get through this time not worrying about anything that may hinder her from receiving the care she needs regarding her cancer treatment and well-being afterwards. Thank you for taking the time to read. It’s been very hard seeing my mother so sick. I have faith she will be triumphant through this endeavor and be so much stronger from it.
