Aid JoAnne and Barbara in Overcoming Flood Damage
Donation protected
On April 6, 2025 @ 2:30am a neighbor called my friend JoAnne, who is a single women, living with her sister, in Clarksville, TN.
This neighbor proceeded to tell JoAnne that the storm drainage area, behind her home, was not taking in water properly and was therefore coming close to her patio.
By 3:00am, JoAnne and her sister Barbara, quickly drove to a local church that was providing sand and bags. These two 60+ year old single women proceeded to fill up 36 sandbags.
By the time they got back to their home, the water had risen into the house. As the hours passed, the water infiltrated their home and it was now 30" deep (2 1/2 feet).
This neighborhood was not in a flood zone and the county knew, back in February, 2025, that the storm drain was not functioning properly.
Later, JoAnne and Barbara found out that a nearby farmer was asking the county to pump the water out of his fields and into the adjoining neighborhood where JoAnne lives.
Since this home was NOT in a flood zone, JoAnne's insurance policy did not include flood insurance from "surface water".
To make matters worse, sewage water is now mixing with the surface water and all the furniture and the entire first floor of her home has to be gutted. due to the influx of mold and bacteria.
FIMA is accessing the situation but no one knows what is going to happen. In the meantime, their are a ton of bills coming in.
JoAnne has been my good friend for 24 years and I am asking my friends and her friends to please give what you can to help JoAnne and her sister Barbara. They are both on fixed incomes. JoAnne and Barbara are faithful women of God and know he will provide. Because JoAnne always helps others and never asks anyone to help her, I am asking on her behalf. Anything that you can give would be appreciated. Deana Christofferson
