Update 3/29/2025: Therapy is going well. Twice a week I go to Cora Physical Therapy in Bristol, Tennessee. I’m also waiting to see a PCP down here to follow up on my diabetes. I’ve started working a few hours a week, but with expenses, like $100 a week for therapy, my next car payment - which was due 3/3/25, and medication, cash has quickly dried up. On February 10th, Jim slipped on the ice on the way to clean off his car before work at Liberty Tax. He was taken to Elliot Hospital by ambulance. X-rays confirmed that he had fractured his left hip. On February 11th, he had surgery to insert a titanium rod and screws to stabilize the hip. On March 5th, he flew to Tennessee to stay with his father and stepmother. He’s still in the process of arranging physical therapy, which hopefully will start soon. Unfortunately, it requires a 50% out-of-pocket payment for each session. 

Jim is the general manager of three Liberty Tax offices and this is the busiest part of tax season, so his presence is greatly missed. Due to the nature of his injury, he will have to do therapy. He’s working on getting into a rehab program, and then he will have to do in-home rehab for many weeks after that. He could be out of work for anywhere from 2 to 6 months realistically.

This GoFundMe is being started to help him cover major medical and therapy expenses that aren't covered by insurance in addition to general living expenses. The tax industry is a seasonal business, and since he will not be available for work, thus will be ineligible for unemployment, he will have no income coming in. He is in the process of applying for assistance through the state, but there is no guarantee.
