Aid Jim in Repairing His Beloved Childhood Home

For over 20 years, Jim Davis has dedicated his life to carpentry, crafting beautiful spaces and helping others turn houses into homes. But now, Jim faces a huge challenge. His childhood home, battered by the intense winds and driving water of Hurricane Helene, needs significant repairs to replace a failing roof system and alleviate dangerous black mold. It is unsafe for him to live there until these repairs are made. I am his mom, and his friends and I are here to support making his home in the Flat Creek community of Fairview, NC, in Buncombe County, livable again.

Growing up in the house his father built, Jim holds countless memories of family gatherings, laughter, and love. The damage inflicted by the hurricane has left it in disrepair, and he is determined to restore it. He possesses the skills to do much of the work himself but needs help to bring his vision to life.

Jim is seeking funding for essential materials such as sheetrock, lumber, insulation, roofing materials, scaffolding, and a dumpster, as well as to hire additional workers for tasks that require more hands. Furthermore, he needs to take time off work to oversee the project, but that means he’ll struggle to pay his bills during this crucial period. He has already been shown a tremendous amount of support by his friends in the trades, but this is the kind of project you don't want to start until you know you have the resources to finish it.
