Aid Jayne's Path to Nursing and Stability

Hi friends,

This past year has been full of changes and rebuilding. I left an unsafe housing environment, moved with my two little ones, and started over. Just as I was getting back on my feet, I was laid off due to budget cuts (thanks to the new administration!).

Instead of letting that stop me, I’m using this as a turning point—I’m planning to begin Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training this fall (still waiting for the official go-ahead ), then continue on to nursing school in January 2026.

My long-term goal is to complete an Accelerated BSN (ABSN) program using my past credits and eventually earn a PsyD, combining nursing and psychology so I can serve both physical and mental health needs in my community—and keep studying the brain meats that fascinate me so much.

This path will not only create a stable career for me and my kids, but also allow me to keep doing what I’ve always been called to do: care for others. I’ve spent years working in mental health and care coordination, and this is the next step toward a long-term career in healthcare.

Right now, though, I’m facing about a $1,200 shortfall each month, with nearly three-quarters of that coming from housing and bills (rent, utilities, internet, phone, and insurance). The rest goes toward essentials like groceries and childcare.

This fundraiser will help bridge that gap and carry me through until I can either secure temporary work or begin nursing school in January (or April, depending on start dates).

I’ll be honest—I hate asking for help. I’m usually the “get it done yourself, lone wolf” type. But right now, I can’t do this alone. Your support will give me and my kids the stability we need as I take these big steps forward.

Fundraising Goals

Initial Goal: $3,000

→ Covers 3 months of the shortfall + childcare/food support while I (hopefully) begin CNA training this fall and continue job searching.

Stretch Goal: $5,500

→ Carries us through December, bridging the gap until I enter nursing school in January. This would give me and the kids stability through the transition, without fear of falling behind.
