Aid James's Fight: Severe Burn Treatment

Donation protected
UPDATE 04/28: Jim just went back for his first set of scrubbing and scraping. They will be replacing eligible spots with cadaver skin today. This will be the first of many sets of surgeries in this exact order, they said. They also will be running some tests to see the extent of nerve damage that he has. He has been having some pretty insane body tremors that he can't seem to control, so we will know more after he's out. Thank you all for your ongoing prayers!!!

As most of you know, James had a horrific accident at work on Friday. While performing a routine inspection — one that no one knew was dangerous — he was hit by the voltage of multiple batteries that should have been completely dead.

James has suffered burns on 67% of his body, and only a little under 10% of those burns are less than third-degree. He begins his first round of skin peeling and grafting surgery on Monday, with many more surgeries to follow, especially for his arms & hands.

We are beyond grateful that James is still with us. Miraculously, he is able to walk and move around, but he doesn't feel pain — which, unfortunately, is a strong sign of serious nerve damage but we are hopeful that after his first scrubbing he will start to feel.

I’m not someone who likes to ask for help, but this time, I can't do it alone. Workman’s Comp doesn’t kick in until after his seventh missed workday — and that’s not even counting the time it will take to process his claim. Plus, the daily commute to Plano takes a toll.

If you aren’t able to give, please keep James in your prayers — we need them just as much! Anyone who knows Jim knows how much he hates being down for long, but right now, he truly has no choice.

Thank you so much to all our friends and family who have called, messaged, and reached out — I’ve shared every single one with him. It means the world.

For those asking about visiting: once James is out of the ICU Burn Unit at Medical City Plano, he’ll be able to have visitors. Right now, it’s restricted to limit traffic and prevent infections. I’m keeping a list of everyone who wants to visit and will reach out once he's ready.

I’ll continue posting updates here as we get them.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
