I am raising money on behalf of my brother James Self. He has had many setbacks the last few years in his ongoing battle with Diabetes. He is a Godly man, and has remained steadfast in his faith and prayer. Unfortunately, he is facing yet another uphill battle, and I told him I would do what I could to get him any kind of help along the way. Here is a letter from him personally:
"To all my family, whether by blood, work, or church! For the last four years, basically since I found out I was diabetic, I have been fighting persistent infection in my body. I have worked diligently to keep my blood sugars under control, and despite consistently keeping my A1c under 6, new battles keep cropping up to fight. Battles that have left me drained of pretty much all resources.
Despite that, I continued to fight and remain confident that God had my back and would see me through, and He always has. Now, after years of surgeries, doctor’s visits, major life changes, medical treatments, and ultimately having my right leg amputated, I was beginning to feel like I was finally coming out the other side of things.
But a new infection has shown up. My doctor found fluid pooling in the stump of my amputated leg, and cultures from the fluid show a whole new infection. This one is not as extreme as the ones I have faced in the past, but it is one that is going to keep me from work for at least several weeks, maybe longer, and the reality is I do not have the leave or savings to cover this time off.
It isn’t easy to admit, but the truth is I need help, and I am hoping my friends, my family, and my neighbors might be able to assist in some way. If you can provide even a small amount to help me cover basic living expenses during this recovery time, it would do so much to help keep me going.
I do recognize the burden this places on everyone but want to express how much it would mean to me if you were able to support me in some way. If you can’t help financially, please pray for me to speed my recovery and get me back to work as soon as possible. You all mean so much to me, and I feel blessed every day to know how much love and support I have in my corner."
