On the evening of August 1st, outside a Spartanburg restaurant, our friend Jae Emory was the victim of a brutal and unprovoked assault. This vicious attack left him with life-altering injuries. Multiple witnesses watched in horror as the assailant violently broke Jae's jaw in multiple places, splitting his lower jaw and cleaving his palate.

Immediately rushed to the emergency room, Jae was diagnosed with severe injuries. Several of his teeth were knocked out and he will require extensive dental work as well as multiple surgeries to repair the fractures and his cleft palate. His jaw will be wired shut for at least six weeks, making it impossible for him to speak or eat solid food. This has unfortunately left him unable to work at his new job, putting a tremendous financial strain on him as he faces a long and difficult recovery. Part of his prognosis includes a loss of sensation in his lip and chin, a lifelong reminder of the assault.

Jae is a gentle and kind soul. He finds joy in being on the water, kayaking, and is an incredibly talented musician who loves playing guitar, DJing, and percussion. He is a truly wonderful person who did not deserve to be targeted in this way.

We're starting this GoFundMe to help Jae with the overwhelming costs he's about to face. All donations will go directly toward his mounting medical bills, future dental and surgical procedures, and physical and mental therapy to help him process this trauma. We also want to help him cover his lost wages so he can focus on healing without the added stress of financial insecurity.
