Aid Jade's Family Through Tallis's Health Crisis
Donation protected
My name is Michelle Colgan. I'm creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my son and wife and my two beautiful grandchildren.
Around 10 years ago, Tallis was diagnosed with A-plastic anemia, a rare blood disease with a very high mortality rate. We really weren't exactly sure what that meant for our family at that time. His levels were just above needing chemo and bone marrow. At 16, Tallis was ready to conquer that head-on, but because of how dangerous treatments of that nature can be, it doesn't happen unless it's life or death. After that, my son lived a pretty normal life. He refused to ever let his disease keep him down. He got into a serious relationship with his now wife/partner also at 16 and has had two wonderful children, ages 4 and 6. The older child, Myles, does require a great deal of extra care due to being high on the spectrum. Many appointments for him alone.
After becoming a father, Tallis got a job as a cook at the well-known "Buddy's" of Pocatello. He worked there for four years or more. They were also always very smart with their money and bought a house and paid off two cars. They never ask for handouts from the family and have even used their tax returns to make smart investments.
In February of 2024, Tallis started to feel very sick. Up until then, he really wouldn't openly talk about his disease. As a family, we never really knew where he stood with it. But this time was different; he actually said he felt like he was dying. For someone who never complains, we took him seriously and rushed him out of his state in Idaho to Utah hospitals since so far no doctors in Idaho have any idea what or how to help him. His disease is very confusing for most hospitals. After about a week and a half at the University of Utah and an MRI showing lesions on his brain stem, Tallis was now diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and yet another blood disease. He was having an MS flare-up and lesions had caused him to partially lose his vision. He also received a platelet infusion since his were dangerously low. After they were able to stabilize him, he was sent back home, getting his levels checked regularly, but has not been able to work since. Disability determination for the sick and in need is harder than you would think and they are waiting.
My daughter-in-law, Jade Underhill-Kley (bless her heart), has literally been the glue holding her family together. She has been trying to manage working the same job for 2 1/2 years, caring for her kids, being the only driver taking both kids to separate schools, appointments, 4 dogs, and 2 cats (animal advocate). They need to relocate to Utah for my son's care and support from the grandparents. We have 3 in Utah. Not to mention the proper care. He is currently in the Huntsman Cancer Institute, admitted and going through immunotherapy suppression right now. We've had blood transfusions, platelet transfusions, and a bone marrow biopsy. Jade had to return to Idaho for the children's schooling and to work, so my son is alone a lot since we are like most families that have to work to survive. Please help my family if you can. They have worked so hard and can't catch a break. Even the smallest amount can help. All donations will go directly to Jade and their family and she will be the beneficiary since Tallis is hospitalized.
