Rally for Jaddy: Medical Emergency & Recovery Support

Our beloved Jadwiga 'Jaddy' Plachy needs us now more than ever.

This past weekend, while attending Viva Las Vegas 2025 — a community she adores and has been part of for years — Jaddy suddenly became critically ill. In the early hours of Sunday morning, she was rushed by ambulance to the ER, where doctors discovered she was experiencing congestive heart failure. After extensive testing, they found her mitral valve has collapsed, and she will likely need open heart surgery to repair it.

Jaddy is currently in the ICU in Las Vegas, on oxygen support and being closely monitored. Medical Teams are working to stabilize her so they can determine whether it’s possible to safely transport her home to Chicago for surgery, or if she’ll need to undergo this major procedure in Las Vegas.

Her partner, Aric, immediately traveled to be by her side and is navigating the unfolding medical crisis away from home. As you can imagine, this situation has brought on a wave of unexpected expenses — from travel and lodging, to meals, missed work, and potential out-of-pocket medical costs.

We’re rallying our Viva Las Vegas family, friends, and anyone whose life has been touched by Jaddy’s kindness, warmth, and beautiful spirit. She’s the kind of person who lights up every room, lifts up others, and is always the first to lend a hand. Now it’s our turn to support her.
