Hi! My name is Oliver and I am a 27 year old chronically ill and disabled man asking for help and support during my current wave of health issues.

2024 has been the worst year in terms of my health. I work as a hairstylist and I had been out of work over the summer dealing with pain that we could not find a source for. Once I finally was able to work again, I began to develop issues with my left wrist. I have also been battling with multiple issues with my back as well as breathing issues. I’m trying to maintain everything, which is hard to do given the state of my health. I’ve spread myself and my mom very thin in terms of finances, and I’m reaching out to ask for help in supporting me over the next couple months.

On January 14, 2025, I will be undergoing de Quervain’s tendonitis release surgery on my left wrist. This will take me out of work completely for 2 weeks as I recover from surgery before I’m in a brace for 3-4 weeks afterwards. I may be able to cut hair with the brace on, but not as many hours, or I may not be able to at all. If I can’t cut hair, I’ll be able to reception on the weekends until the brace is off and I’m cleared by my surgeon.

Unfortunately, bills do not stop when you are out of work. Necessities still need to be paid for as well as a roof over our heads so my mom, me, and our four cats can live in peace. Or, somewhat peace, since we have cats and they don’t know what the meaning of peace is. The money I raise here will be used to pay for various bills and necessities as they come up in the coming months.
